Ever feel stuck, frustrated or just plain overwhelmed? Tony Robbins has a mental reset that can shift your focus, change your emotions, and get you moving—fast. It all comes down to three simple questions.
1. What am I focusing on?
🔹 Why it matters: Your focus shapes your emotions, and your emotions shape your reality. Most people don’t consciously choose their focus—it’s on autopilot, often stuck on what’s wrong, what’s missing, or what’s out of their control. That’s a recipe for frustration.
💡 AL’s Insight: You control your focus. Be decisive. Shift it, and you shift everything.
✅ Reality check:
Are you focusing on:
🔸 What’s missing or what’s possible?
🔸 Things you can’t control or things you can?
🔄 Shift it:
🚫 Instead of “Why does this always happen to me?”
✅ Ask “What can I learn from this?”
📌 Example: You walk into a meeting and immediately notice who’s not engaged. Instead of focusing on disengagement (which frustrates you), focus on the few who are highly engaged—and build momentum from there.
2. What does this mean?
🔹 Why it matters: The meaning you assign to situations determines how you feel. If a challenge means “I’m failing,” you’ll feel defeated. If it means “This is a learning moment,” you’ll stay in the game.
💡 AL’s Insight: You get to decide what things mean. Choose wisely.
✅ Reality check: Is what you’re thinking really true? Are you assigning a meaning that weakens you or strengthens you?
🔄 Shift it:
🚫 A setback isn’t proof you’re not good enough.
✅ It’s a nudge to refine your approach.
📌 Example: Your leader gives you critical feedback. You could take it as “I’m not doing well,” or you could see it as free coaching from someone who wants to see you improve and succeed. Same situation—totally different energy.
3. What am I going to do?
🔹 Why it matters: Action is the antidote to fear. Overthinking leads to inaction, and inaction fuels doubt. Momentum starts when you move—even if it’s just a small step.
💡 AL’s Insight: Clarity comes from the doing, not the overthinking. It’s not about perfection. It’s about progress, and action drives progress.
✅ Reality check: Are you waiting for the perfect plan, or are you taking the next best step?
🔄 Shift it:
🚫 “I don’t know what to do.”
✅ “What’s one thing I can do today to move forward?”
📌 Example: You’re thinking about starting a blog, but you don’t know where to begin. Instead of researching endlessly, write one post and hit publish. Action creates clarity. Speaking from experience, it got me off a blank screen.
💭 Parting Thoughts
These three questions create momentum. They help you take control of your mindset, reframe challenges, and move forward with a greater degree of confidence. While it’s human to have insecurities and be uncertain, it’s also human to have courage and take action based on our best judgement.
💡 AL’s Insight: Change your mind and your body will follow. While I’m a big fan of stratgic planning, goal setting and getting things done, the fastest way to change your life isn’t a grand plan—it’s a simple shift in focus, meaning, and action. It’s about progress, not perfection. And “someday” isn’t a day of the week on any calendar, so start now.
Inspire on! ✨
